Great topic Mog.
I
hate the phrase "chilling out".
People use it when they try to turn "slobbing on the couch in my pants" into an aspirational activity.
It's nearly always used as a response to someone who says "I had dinner on the QE2 with Stevie Wonder at the weekend, after they helicoptered me in from my morning's snowboarding in St Moritz... what did you get up to?"
"Ahh, y'know... just chilled out really."
At least have the balls to say "Ate Pot Noodle in my pants whilst watching Hollyoaks. And I bet it was a shit-load better than your weekend."
Even worse, is the new composite in linguistic pretension: "chillaxing".
Oh sod off. How old are you? 11?
... and... breathe.
