Im thinking of making a life change and want to move to London but it's so difficult to pick an area that I'll be comfortable in. Ive never lived in a city before so this is a big leap for me but im prepared to take it as long as my 16 year old daughter will be safe going to and from college especially at night or in the winter when its dark. Ive been offered flats in Islington, Bow and Hackney. Id love to get some opinions....

You've come to the right place :) Welcome to All In London

We've got a section covering all of the London boroughs here:

http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/boroughs/

There's quite a bit of info in there with videos and sub sections about the areas within the boroughs.

If you're after somewhere safe then this table gives you an idea of the change in crime reports over recent years:

http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/boroughs/comparisons.php

From the places you've mentioned I'd say Islington is the best bet.

Any more questions just ask.

Pollyblue, hello to you! Statistically, Boroughs like Kingston & Richmond in the South West of London and Havering in the North East of the Capital are the safest places to reside. Comparative figures reveal that Hackney is one of the least safe Boroughs. However, you may find that the less safe Boroughs in London offer you and your daughter a more exciting and colourful life with a wonderfully diverse choice of facilities and amenities.

If you're planning on moving to London, you might to look at Time Out's area guides. They've got information on different London neighbourhoods, so you can see what various parts of London have to offer. They've also got details on restaurants, theatres, pubs and attractions: http://www.timeout.com/london/feature/904/london-area-guides?DCMP=areaguides

I'm currently planning on moving near the Hendon area, but am just wondering what it's like in terms of being a good place to go for runs? I've heard from a few friends that Malcom Park is a good place for exercise, anyone recommend it? Also, if anyone recommends certain areas that would be good, my budget is about 550 a month and i've found a few good ones here (http://www.gartoo.co.uk/private-lettings-hendon).
