Moving to London

Hey Guys just wondering if anyone can help me. I'm originally from Australia, been living in Exeter for the last 10 months and now want to make to big move to London. I have a job in Sw17 (Tooting) starting start of March and just wondering if anyone could give me some tips on areas. I understand that it's best to be close to a tube line. I would be looking to be as close to the city as possible but also close to the office so I guess in between the two would be perfect.

Any help would be amazing as I have only been to London once for one day so I really have no idea. Thanks :)

Any idea on budget? I think that will be the deciding factor. Tooting is actually not bad as you'd be close to work and it's well connected into London - probably not the most attractive neighbourhood, but getting better. Clapham would be between you work and town so may also be a good bet, but tends to be more expensive. Streatham is a bit cheaper as there is only and overland/buses rather than a tube line, but that's close by too.
