Hello! I'm a 25 year old chap from the north moving to london with his girlfriend in a few weeks. We are currently looking for somewhere to live, preferably on a tube or dlr line. We are after somewhere nice, but not too posh (expensive), with good amenities and the like. If anyone can help us out, we would be much appreciative.

An exasperated thanks!

You can find http://www.hotels-net here, if you have money try and stay to the west of london, going North or South will reduce the costs, but you get what you pay for!

Hiya Jim,

yeah the west of London is a good choice as it provides an easy way out if you need to travel away from London - particularly if going to the west or north.

It might be an idea to look around the Camden/ King's X area as well.
This gives good access to KingsX station for links up north.

Camden is a nice area to live, very quirky in places and always reminds me of watching "Withnail and I" - it's got that kind of spirit.

Highgate's also nice (bit pricey maybe in places) but has good links to KingsX and the north.

Depending on what the finances are like West Hampstead is a cracking area - very cool. St John's Wood just down the raod also gets my vote - but that's pretty pricey.

I always recommend Clapham for people looking to move to London - there's plenty there in the way of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants and it's pretty easy to get into central London.

Anyway, I hope this helps,

Cheers,

Dammo.
