Well to be honest to become a Hair Stylist of any standard you will need some serious training, most salons and hair studios suffer from a massive influx of hair & beauty school finishers at this time of year therefore it is very unlikely will get a place without any experience or training.

On the other hand if you are serious about training up to become a stylist your first port of call would be a course at one of the many Further Education colleges around mainly because entry requirement levels are rather low.

I would recommend Barnet College, although the entry requirements are very low for Hair & Beauty courses the courses are VERY rigourous and demanding and constantly churns out great results year after year. Upon graduation you will find it ALOT easier to find a job and pastoral care will aid you in finding work upon course completion. Have a look at their website at www.barnet.ac.uk or give them a call on 020 8200 8300 and ask them for further info. Enrollment for September starts soon! If you are 19 or under and a UK/EU citizen the course is free, in the case that you are 19+ and/or a non UK/EU you will need to pay for your course.

Hope that has been of some help.

Best of Luck

I had the best start to my hairdressing career on Vidal sassoon diploma course in Mayfair. I learnt everything i needed to know there. All the teachers were really great and helped me gain confidence to be where im at now. Its 30 weeks long and you learn everything that you need to know and not the boring stuff like at college. Id highly recommend it.
