Nice to see another Porsche fan. I've hired a few Boxsters in London before and also had trouble finding a decent company who can insure you if you're under 30.
I assume you're talking about Guy Salmon, they want you to be over 30 to hire a Boxster, I hate to think what the age limit would be if they got hold of a Ferrari or Lambo!
The company I've used is Prestige Car Hire
www.prestigecarhire.co.uk. They've got some great cars but you're talking real money if you want the super cars. The Boxsters I had from them were great, excellent condition and high-spec. They're based in Edgware and are a decent company who know what they're doing.
When hiring these kinds of cars you have to carry a pretty big insurance excess, so be careful with it.
You could always get one of those "driving experience" deals if you'd rather not have the risk but they're a bit lame in comparison and you don't get to burn MR2s and Z3s off the lights
