I'm new to the forum, and new to London as well: I moved here from Italy less than a week ago, so I'm an almost total newbie.

Pleased to meet you all Happy

Welcome :)

What part of London are you in? North-East-South-West?

Wrap up warm!

I live in Walthamstow, what about you?
I'm not suffering much from the weather so far, also because my house is really hot. Outside of course it's a different matter.

Walthamstow is near me - I'm in neighbouring Tottenham.

Have u been to the local market? It's great. And apparently the longest one in Europe. Walthamstow has good transport links.

Have you got yourself an oyster card yet?

Yep, if you mean the one along High St.
I still had my Oyster from my first visit in july 2006, but I haven't figured out the cheapest way to use it yet. I can't apply for a student card in spite of being a PhD student, so for now I've topped up 50 quid, I'll see how long they'll last.

I don't think there is a cheapest way to use it - I'm not sure.

You can check how much each journey has cost you by using the topping-up machines within any station.

I wouldn't put £50 in there at once.. - What if you lose it? - It could cause you a lot of hassle.

I just went on your MySpace - so you're a musician, how cool!

Are you playing any shows?

I just wanted to see how long they'd last me, anyway now that you mention it I'll knock on wood and be extra careful ;)

Yes I'm a musician, that's the page of my one-man-band project. Unfortunately I didn't bring any instruments with me so I don't know for now, but I'll fetch my microphone in a month. I was actually thinking of finding a band in need of a singer. Know any?

I hope you'll like my songs, and thanks for checking them out :)

I believe if you register it you can recover those funds!

Mine is on auto top up as I use the bus mostly, no tubes round my way!
