should she stay or go..
after all she is the bod incharge of law and order in this wonderful country, should she be allowed to pay back the money and no more said? Will that mean a shoplifter can do the same, offer to pay for items taken and have no consequences, if she is allowed to get away with it?
What are your thoughts???

Personally i think the whole thing needs looking at.
Im fed up with these MPs getting 20k to do up their homes on top of their wages. Why should they be claiming for sky anyway.... regardless of if he watched porn or not. Why can't they pay for a bath plug out of their own 60k wages. MPs shouldn't be allowed 2nd homes. They should simply build a big building with seperate flats in it for MPs to use when they are in London.
None of this having two homes, one paid for by the general public.
Some of these MPs are just SO greedy.

It makes me so angry and sad to hear of all these expenses that MPs are claiming - whether it be technically ok by the rules or not...it's our money and they get paid enough. I do appreciate that they have a tough job to do in most cases what with travelling a lot and never being able to please people, but this really isn't helping their public image. PLEASE just think in advance what the general person on the street would think about each expense you're claiming - is it reasonable or not... use your consience!

It makes me all boil inside, knowing about all those extra expences. Most people get peanuts for a very hard work without bonuses and try make ends meet. And most M.Ps getting all this so-called thank you money for what? Disgrace I say!

Ok lets be fair here.

If you are an MP from North Wales, or Scotland, why should you have to pay travel expenses and rent out of your own salary because you are often required in London to vote etc?

If your company asks you to go away on business they foot the bill!

Now, are they well paid? Yes. They should be as we expect them to do difficult jobs for us (though my local MP is always conspicuous by his absence in anything, anywhere!), and thus are paid accordingly.

The Jacqui Smith thing really though showed that Parliament is still an 'old boys club', the allowances are treated as part of their salary and they look after themselves well! But when we keep electing this stereotypical Eton, Oxford privately educated sort of MP then this is what we can expect, they have no idea what real life is like!

Same with the current spin scandal. They all do this sort of thing to each other. Its why Elections have such low turnouts, we just dont care about any of it. I would once, for example, like to hear George Osbourne on the Today show NOT slag off Labour! Maybe try telling us why you would be better, than why we shouldnt vote for the others!

Hello all, I see you have been talking about the MPs' expenses scandal.

I wanted to let you know about a campaign we've launched, called Open Up, to make politics more open and transparent.

In particular we are calling on the public to sign our petition for open primaries which we want in place by the next election.

The petition is at openupnow.org and we've had some pretty funny videos made by the comedy legend, John Lloyd, on our YouTube (openupnowdotorg) page too.

You can also join us on Twitter (@open_up_now) and Facebook (/openupnow).

As this is something I know a fair few people here are passionate about I thought you might like to support us!

I look forward to hearing your views, thanks for reading.
