My family of 5 (me, husband and 3 boys) will be moving from Johannersburg, South Africa to London soon. We are looking for a 3 to 4 bedroomed house to rent or buy in a nice place preferably with nice schools(primary and secondary).
Confused

Judhead
Leyton, Walthamstow and Leytonstone are all reasonably priced for housing to rent and to buy. The main plus point is that they are in the key areas for the olympics so should in theory be money makers as well. For schools it is probably better to keep to Leytonstone and Leyton but all this area is very up and coming and there have been big improvements to schools in Walthamstow as well!

Good luck

Very grateful for your advice Judhead!!! My husbands moves end this march and will check out the places you suggest. One other thing Judhead... Does Leytonstone and Leyton have good communication links to Central London as my husband will be working at the Commonwealth offices there? Thanks again, now I will try and locate these areas on the map. Any further input on this is quite welcome.

The cheapest possible will be in SOuth london like Brixton or Peckham or the far reaches of East london but this is because they are really awful places to live. If you want my advice as to nice parts of london to live (ie decent place, good schools) you will have to go to west/South West london or some parts of North west london. Places i can recommend from personal experience are MAida Vale, Putney, Kingston , Acton, Warwick Avenue, Richmond, Ealing, Kensington (bit pricey! though), Fulham, Shepherds Bush

some of these are expensive because theyre better places to live but out of them Acton, Shepherds bush are at the moment still more fair priced than most
