wow had a sunday lunch at the kings ,it was great a half chicken with all the trimmings at only 6.95 i can only say i will see you there on sunday.although there was a arsenal game on the telly it was fairly quiet except for two idiots who couldnt string a sentence together it was well worth a second visit if your in the area, all told a gem of a pub with friendly staff and some proper people.

i have come accross a proper pub at last! after what seems years of looking i have found a great pub with real ales and home made food of which nothing costs more than a fiver.ok so its not the best looking place in islington but if your tired of paying over the odds for food and drink then all i can say is welcome and you will get a warm one, there is a new manager who seems to know what he is doing.i have visited the kings about 10 times now and it gets better and better what are you waiting for.

The kings head launhed a fantastic new menu today, and i can safely say, that the food is not bought from iceland, I had a very tasty cheesy pasta with bacon, and it was really nce, the portions are huge, so its great value for money, my friand had the good old spag bol, with garlic bread, and she said it tasted as good as ones she eaten in Italy, Compliments to the new chef, and we are glad food is back on the menu again.

Put simply, I would quite happily spent my last living day in this pub. Superb.

The kings head is a great place to drink, yes bit expensive but compared to most pubs its OK. It's under new management, run by a man called "JIM" he is the manager, what a great guy,its a shame he supports "TOTTENHAM". The pub also has sky sports which is very good for all you "GOONERS". As for the staff! well he has got really good staff, they do there best to serve you as quick as possible so please be patient with them. The food! well that's a different matter. Ive seen what i believe to be the cook who prepares food for the kings head actually going into the pub with bags of food from "ICELAND" could this actually be the food what customers are eating? I as a regular food eater in public house's am sure the food has to come from a registered supplier in case of any food contamination (FOOD POISONING)then that way they can trace it back to the supplier. I defiantly wont be eating "ICELAND FROZEN FOOD" in the kings head again.

I went to the Kings Head, for only the second time last ever last saturday and I have to say it was a BRILLIANT night. I had a mate down from Scotland and we popped in for a pint at 10 and stayed till 2.

The bar staff could be a bit quicker, and friendlier but apart from that it was a good party atmosphere in an attitude free zone.

The music was fantastic with a lad and a girl DJ-ing who were really friendly and happy to take requests, playing songs that I'd never admit to enjoying sober, but after a few I cant help dancing to (did I really boogie to samantha fox?). It was a great, hassle free night, get the bar staff up to scratch and it'll be top marks! I'll be back!

I am with you there matey, what has happened to the place, ok fair enough it was never going to be like the queens oppisit but it was a good all round meeting and chilling pre club place. I was in there on saturday night with a few pals and they could not wait to leave. There is s good mix of people but the pub does not seem to know what it is, there was a dodgy old bloke up singing but the clientel was young. As for the bar staff i think you are being a little unfair, they are ok to look at but it seems thats all they have going for them. Ha ha plastics bottle, I clocked that as well and no magners or bulmers. A bit like a bring a bottle party in my book.

Huggy Huggy Huggy! Are you sure that your visiting the same kings head as me and my mates? We tend to meet there on a saturday night before heading to a club as its local to everyone, we have done this for years, well no more im afraid. Please will someone explain to me why it should take 20 mins to get served when the drinks end up coming from a plastic bottle!, the staff are dull and slow and the toilets pure filth, Im very sorry to say that after many happy years me and the kings head are going our seperate ways

I went to the kings head last saturday night, and noticed that it was under new managemant, The new staff were friendly and welcoming, the pub was clean and tidy and had a nice feeling about the place. We only intended to stay for a few but as soon as the disco started we just had to stay, the music was more up to date then it used to be,

We will definatley be back to the kings head, and fully intend to taste the new menu that will be on offer from 26th September.

Being a smoker, i was glad to see that they had a beer garden that stays open til 11pm and is heated! I will be back with the other half as they show football on sky sports!

both of the reviews listed are truly out of date, I was recommended this pun by a mate that is a regular so thought I would give it a try. I found the bar staff to be scruffy and looked like like they drank more profit then they made, I also found it to be very exspensive for even for a islingotn pub, the choice of music was so out of date my granny would think it was old fashioned. Give it a miss and head more towards the angel.

We currently rehearse an amateur play in a studio off Essex Rd. We went into the King’s Head the first night after rehearsals as the Queen’s Head had a do on. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful and it’s now our regular post-rehearsal haunt. We always are made to feel welcome despite being a large group (generally 15 or so). I would recommend this pub to anyone. We've eaten there of a lunch time as well and the food has always been of a good standard and very good value.

I think the details shown may be a little out of date. I went there recently to find there has been a change of management, and live music is now 4 times a week! Friday and Saturday there's live music & singing, Wednesday is Jazz night, and Sunday is Open Mic, with some really talented musicians turning up. The food is still traditional English- and very tasty. The Sunday roast is one of the best I've come across.
There is a lovely beer garden at the back- perfect for the lovely weather, and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
I'll definately be making this one of my regular haunts.
Have your say
