I regularly travel from the North to London and usually end up having to wait around at Kings Cross for my train back. By chance I went into The Lucas Arms while having a walk round the Kings Cross area to kill some time. The food was nice, there is a varied menu, the prices are reasonable (they have some good offers for burger and a drink for about £8.00 and a drink and breakfast for about £3.50), the pub is clean and well furbished. I now go here for a bite to eat whenever I have time to kill waiting for the train.

I had a lunch meal at The Lucas Arms when visiting a nearby hospital yesterday and couldn't have chosen anywhere better. It is a good traditional pub with a warm welcome. The menu is varied, food great and very good value. I will certainly visit it again if I am in the area.

The pub was refreshingly empty for 15.45 on a Friday. There was 1 barmaid taking an order for 2 burgers and cokes and another chatting outside in clear sight of the bar. I waited 10 minutes to be served and when the 2 guys queuing behind me popped to the loo, I checked with my mate outside, whether we still had time for a drink. We had till 16.30, so I returned to the bar and so did the guys from the WC. After a couple of minutes the barmaid turned, said sorry, then when outside to get the other staff member. She finished her chat, came in, ignored the queue and then they both busied themselves with the order for 2 burgers and cokes. At 16.05 I gave up and joined my mate outside. 10 minutes later the other staff member came out and said "Sorry guys, but if you want to sit out there you'll have to come in and order a drink". "We did try earlier" I replied. "Well, it's empty now" was her only response, which summed up the problem with this pub.

Recently visited London for a weekend and the Lucas became our local. Staff were friendly, and helpful. The punters were a nice lot too. Loos could have been better, but after a few who cares really. Thanks for a really warm welcom to london guys. I will be back.
