The World Shakespeare Festival is a celebration of Shakespeare as the world’s playwright and we hope you will come and join us.

Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, in an unprecedented collaboration with leading UK and international arts organisations, and with Globe to Globe, a major international programme produced by Shakespeare’s Globe, it’s the biggest celebration of Shakespeare ever staged.

Almost 60 partners are coming together to bring the Festival alive. Thousands of artists from around the world will take part in almost 70 productions, plus supporting events and exhibitions, right across the UK, including London.

Highlights include:

  • Macbeth: Leïla and Ben – A Bloody History by William Shakespeare, 4 - 7 July 2012 (Riverside Studios, London)

  • Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad - An Iraqi Theatre Company production, 28 - 30 June (LIFT at Riverside Studios, London)

  • Cymbeline by William Shakespeare - A Ninagawa Company production , 29 May - 2 June 2012 (Barbican Theatre, London)

  • Globe to Globe - A Shakespeare's Globe production, 21 April - 9 June 2012 (Shakespeare's Globe, London)
