Running throughout October, Bouvetøya is a solo show of new work by Freddy Dewe Mathews, focused on the Antarctic island of the same name, which explores historical examples of human attempts to impose themselves on this harsh, uninhabited archipelago - the most isolated landmass in the world.
Bouvetøya combines archive material alongside a body of new sculptures installed both inside the gallery and in borrowed spaces outside of the building. These are presented with a sound piece made in response to Dewe Mathews’ research into the island’s human history.
