Alternative, out of the ordinary and unusual, whether you’re trying to impress someone or looking for a night that has more to it than a trip to the pub or the club, we’ve got it.

Bogan Bingo
A ‘bogan’ is an Australian (and New Zealand) slang term used for describing someone as unsophisticated or uncouth. It is even in the Oxford English Dictionary. So that’s that. Bogan Bingo plays on this with its two hosts who bring an Edinburgh Fringe award-winning mix of comedy, rock ‘n’ roll, vests, mullets and bingo together. Big prizes, big music and big laughs make the night - held at The Slug in Fulham – sell out every Thursday.

Doodle Bar
Ping-pong, good food and drink, live music; nothing out of the ordinary about all that. The unusual thing about Doodle Bar is the venue’s wall space. Set within the Testbed1 events space, Doodle Bar is a place where visitors are free to express their artistic side by drawing on the walls. As well as the freedom to doodle the bar also hosts a variety of art workshops for the public.

Le QuecumBar
If you haven’t been to this Belgian Gypsy Swing Bar then go. Go now. Done up like a beatnik Left Bank club in the 1930’s, Le QuecumBar is London’s only Django Reinhardt inspired music venue. There is Belgian food, French wine, Trappist beers, live gypsy swing and plenty of atmosphere to tempt you from your norms.

Drink Shop & Do
From Lego robot building to tote bag making, Drink Shop & Do has its own ways of making sure there are always activities to accompany your drinking. Events are held most nights, when the space is transformed from the shop it is by day into the bar it becomes by night.

Torture Garden
We’re building it up here in terms of ‘alternative levels’ and things don’t get much more alternative than a night out at The Torture Garden. It is the world’s largest fetish and body art club and the monthly events attract everyone from the merely curious to the hardcore performance art fan. Depending on the particular event you can expect anything from fetish fashion shows and live music to burlesque and body art.

Pheromone Party
A random alternative to regular dating that sprung up in Los Angeles has landed here in London. The idea? That smelling a worn nightshirt will give you a true sense of the type of person you’re going to click with. Known as The Pheromone Party, the night has been welcomed by Stories on Broadway Market. All you need to do is bring a slept in t-shirt with you and then get sniffing. The next Pheromone Party is scheduled for Tuesday 15th July.
