Reviewed: Euston Tap

The Euston Tap might just be the most surprising pub in London. Located within a stone’s throw of Euston Station, it resides in a former lodge once used for processing mail and customer inquiries for the trains. Transformed from a disused space, the Euston Tap now has one of the most impressive shells going from which to sell its eclectic range of craft ale.

A blocky, cube of a pub, there isn’t a great deal of space to drink inside, which is fine in summer when the pathway outside doubles as a makeshift garden. We’re not quite sure how they get away with the sheer number of people taking over what is essentially the beginning of the entrance to Euston, but they do. During colder months be prepared to squeeze in. There is a second level of seating but being a commuter’s dream (i.e. not a Wetherspoon on the station concourse) it fills up rapidly after five.

As if the building weren’t enough, the Euston Tap also keeps a vast range of craft beers running through their centralised wall of pumps. From Licher Weizen to Odell IPA, there is a little something to suit all tastes. And naturally, the list of beers on offer is always changing.

The atmosphere inside and out is lively and the mix between beer lovers and after-workers keeps the clientele interesting – there is nothing not to like here. A lovely pub in a highly original setting, the Euston Tap is a pleasure.
