007 In Hot Bother

The recent casting of Daniel Craig as the new 007 has caused considerably controversy amongst James Bond fans across the world. The actor was cast as Bond for the upcoming film Casino Royale, however he was not a popular choice and many fans felt that Piece Brosnan should have been retained in the role.

A petition has been launched on a website that asks fans to sign in order "to stop Sony and Eon from ruining the future of James Bond by hiring Daniel Craig". The site does not stop there with the insults and asks; "How can a short, blond actor with the rough face of a professional boxer and a penchant for playing killers, cranks, cads and gigolos pull off the role of a tall, dark, handsome and suave secret agent?"

Daniel Craig has previously starred in Layer Cake, a gangster thriller and Munich a drama from Spielberg, however he did little to impress the media at a recent press conference and since then has been the subject of criticism.

Despite this, Daniel does have the support of Pierce Brosnan himself who has stated "I think Daniel is a very fine actor."
