Bethnal Green Guide
Your All In London guide to Bethnal Green

In the Victorian era, Bethnal Green was one of London’s poorest areas, along with much of the East End. Today, house prices have skyrocketed thanks to its proximity to the City; wealthier visitors have moved in and the area has become trendy, although it still lacks the fashionable aura of Dalston or Hoxton, partly because it’s a residential rather than a night time destination (although trendy bars and restaurants are swiftly moving in) and partly because the divide between rich and poor is brutally evident as purpose-built council flats mingle with maisonettes owned by trustafarians.
Victoria Park in Bethnal Green is the setting for numerous music festivals like Lovebox and Rock Against Racism, and it surrounded by quaint Victorian houses and the odd gastropub.
