If you’re wondering how this East London neighbourhood got its name, it’s because of the church that has existed here since the 13th century, with an unconventional bull’s horn mounted on one of the outside walls. In terms of housing, Hornchurch is a bit of a mixed bag, with purpose built ex-local authority buildings at the cheaper end of the property ladder and larger detached homes selling for millions of pounds. The high street is surprisingly lively with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants, the only downside is the lack of a central train station as Hornchurch tube is roughly half a mile away from the high street.
