Mitcham

Your All In London guide to Mitcham

It lacks the upmarket shops, amenities and reputation of neighbouring Wimbledon, however it shares much of the same villagey feel and abundance of green spaces. The fact that house prices are also lower makes it an attractive destination for first time buyers and young families, and there’s a variety of Edwardian, Victorian and 1930s housing that was originally built to house the poor. Mitcham has yet to be gentrified – a good thing in some people’s opinions - meaning shopping possibilities aren’t great, furthermore transport links are far from ideal as the only train station is a fair way out of the town centre, however a tram line was recently installed linking to Croydon and Wimbledon.
