North Watford is the area that surrounds the train station of the same name; it is characterised by leafy areas with large houses and in contrast, somewhat more grim-looking housing estates. While the main shopping centre is in the centre of town, St. Albans Road has independent retailers and pubs, as well as several large superstores near the Dome Roundabout. While the area is mostly residential, North Watford is also home to the Woodside Leisure Park, which contains Watford’s only cinema, several family-friendly restaurants, an amusement arcade and a bowling alley. The train station serves the local area and surrounding Herfordshire towns, change at Watford Junction to get to London.
