Much of Plumstead’s development happened in the late 19th century when houses were built for the workers at the Royal Arsenal, these Victorian terraced properties are interspersed with council estates, with the nicest properties being located around Plumstead Common. Sadly, much of the area is run-down and there is little to do – kids loitering around outside shops is a common sight and transport links are poor, on the plus side there are plenty of green spaces and it’s close to the river. The high street is uninspiring and overall, the area could do with a bit of a cash injection.
