I have driven past this restaurant often, it looks welcoming & I planned to visit, got the excuse a few weeks ago and took the family in.
Decent atmosphere, very friendly staff, prices were standard for this type of restaurant, but unfortunately it ended there. The food was banal and rates in the bottom 10% of Indian restaurants I have eaten in (several hundred). We had the usual mix of starters, medium & hot curries, with assorted vegetables & breads, the young ones love a curry, but the food was tasteless, greasy & left them feeling ill, I managed to wash mine down with copious amounts of Beer, the wife tasted some and declared she ‘would cook when she got home’.
I would have preferred to take the owner to the pub for a drink and a chat, as he seems to be a decent interesting chap; unfortunately his zest fails to motivate the kitchen staff.
This could be a nice place with a chef who knows how to cook Indian food, but until that day comes, I will not be returning.
The New Curry Centre is a fully licensed and fully air conditioned restaurant that serves traditional Indian cuisine complimented by an extensive wine list with beers and spirits also available.
