The service in this restaurant was appalling. The waiters/waitresses were very rude and unwelcoming and made myself and my adult children feel like we were a burden.
They overall service was very slow and we couldn't wait to leave there. The waiter also failed to give us our change from our bill. As it was only £1.30 we left but needless to say we will not be spending our hard earned cash in any Garfunkels ever again.

Seriously disappointed.

My partner and I have been to this particular Garfunkel's on several occasions as we both work in London. While we found the food over priced considering the basic portion sizes and most (but not all) of the staff being unenthused (to put it politely) we would visit this branch of Garfunkel's for it's convenience. However, after our most recent visit in February 2012 I can honestly say we will NEVER be going to this 'restaurant' again. The female members of staff were again as minimally helpful as they could be without being as blatant as to lose their jobs. I'm sure it was never explained to me when I worked in a bar that talking to my colleagues while customers wait is in the job description. After waiting for over 25 minutes to even order our meals while it wasn't even particularly busy (and having wasted half of my lunch hour) we paid £5.20 for our 2 watered-down cokes and left.
I hope the next place we choose to spend most of our lunch hours doesn't present me with the same standard of omelette that's greasy enough to make me feel ill and a level of 'service' that barely registers on the scale.
I hope Garfunkel's can turn their declining reputation around although I'd say they are fitting in quite well with the average and steadily slipping standards of London in general. I for one won't waste my time there again.

We visited the branch off Oxford Street, on Boxing Day, and were shocked at the rudeness we witnessed. The manager (concierge??) was arguing with a customer. The customer stated that he didn't want to raise his voice but that he'd been mistreated. The manager/concierge turned his back on this customer and refused to speak to him. A waitress approached two customers and asked them where they would like to be seated. Understandably they were confused - what does this mean now that there is no smoking allowed anywhere in restaurants?? She met their confusion by sarcastically pointing at random tables and asking "there, there or there?". If customers can sit where they please why are we asked upon entering the restaurant to wait to be seated?? This restaurant is staffed by the rudest people I have ever witnessed.
Have your say
