I’ve been going here for 15-20 years. At my last visit, on 9th Dec. 06, I found the place sadly changed. A new management had taken over 2 months earlier. “Smoking or non-smoking?” they rapped at us – the sum total of their welcome. I missed the old congenial congestion and hubbub. The local punters (I knew them by sight!) had vanished, so had the wonderful antipasti carrello, and service was alarmingly quick – hence, I suppose, the rubbery spaghetti and travestied lamb. Short commons, too – a far cry from the old régime’s generosity. The wine list is still OK, but for how much longer?
Sic transit Gloria mundi!
