Cafe Rest

As the new owners we have been trading as PaddyPortions@Caferest for 10 weeks now and are delighted that lots of the previous regulars have returned and been very supportive and positive. We decided to keep the business running as Louis and Elle had for the last 54 years as we felt that they had a winning formula. Obvisiouly we are tweeking things slightly as we go along to put our own stamp on the place. We gave the place a lick of paint and a freshen up but decided to keep things familiar to ensure that the existing clientele felt at home. We are also making every effort to encourage new customers, builders for breakfast, work collouges for lunch, couples for dinner and families for Sunday lunch, birthdays and special occasions.
Our food is all homemade with a traditional Irish and English menu, things such as Boiled Bacon and cabbage, Irish Stew, T-Bone Steak and old favourites like Braised Steak and all day breakfast are all on the menu and freshly sourced and cooked by Pat and Ann in the kitchen both from Tipperary.

There is always a friendly buzz with lots of the old regulars chatting about the new menu and the length of time they have been coming here. They are sad to have seen Louis and Elle leave but they really have welcomed us and been supportive of our new venture.

It is disappointing to have received a negative review on this site, this is the result of an incident, whereby, a long existing customer, took acception to being told, that it was unacceptable, to relelive himself on the pavement outside the cafe instead of using the toilets that's are provided for our customers.

We are doing everything we can to ensure a nice, clean and friendly environment for all our customers to come and eat good homemade affordable food and we look forward to your custom in the future. Pat & Karen

Since the previous owner retired the new business is absolutly terrible ! The cafe is
painted interely all white,looks like a mortuary and just as cold. The Licencee seems
unfriendly and doesnt listen to customers orders,but walks away before full order given.Not a recommended cafe to go to if you want a friendly cafe atmosphere.Even some of the long time customers of the previous owner are not treated with respect They dont go there now,and one cannot blame them. I cant see the `new cafe` lasting.
I myself would not go there again,nor would I recommend it..even to my worst enemies!

Cafe Rest is a great little place in Shepherds Bush to get a full English. It's been there for ages. Nothing fancy but a great meal for about 6 quid.

On a side note, you can see this restaraunt in the Who's movie....Quadrophenia...when Jimmy is giving Steph a ride, on his scooter, home from work.

The food and service is really good. Like I said nothing fancy just good food. Try their home made custard as well. I love this place and I use to eat here almost daily. I moved to the States and havent been in ages but I look forward to returning to Cafe Rest next week when I'm back in London.

I have been going to the Cafe Rest for a little over 20 years. The food is a mixture of typical home made grub, which very few restaurants offer these days. It is very homey and not formal at all. The food is great and very reasonable. This is a family run business and everyone makes you feel like part of the family. An excellent restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tasty, filling and cost effective meal.
