Sapporo Ichiban

What can I say? Sapporo Ichiban is a perfect example of Catfords unrealised potential for greatness. The sushi itself is of good quality, perhaps the best I've had in South East London (admittedly, I haven't had it much in the SE). The prices are good too, especially for food that is increasingly becoming associated with overpriced tidbits. I'm not chuffed at the non-sushi menu which tends to consist of brightly (artificially?) coloured Westernised interpretations of generic "Asian food" - but that is most likely due to the range of clientele one could expect. The portion sizes are also reasonable for the price. Overall, sticking with sushi and it's accompaniments, not much to complain about...apart from the service. The service is painstakingly slow and doesn't appear to be well coordinated. It's a real shame - if this and the few menu aberrations could be rectified - Catford could be regenerated by this little gem alone....maybe.
