If you check the usual restaurant review sites, you will, like me see a split v.good/v. bad. I didn't want to you to be disappointed so decided to check it out for myself.

My friend and I went on a Friday night and were very reassured. We arrived at 730 and it was quiet. Was that a bad sign? Not at all. The manager had the time to talk with us in his native French and the restaurant steadily filled up.

We were welcomed with an aperitif. Looking at the menu took me back to le patrimoine; ie very French (but my tastebuds have matured and I didn't baulk at snails and rabbit). We enjoyed our starters, the mains were both delicieux and substantial and the desserts; creme brulee and mous

This restaurant knocked my socks off! I hear that Michel Roux has recently started overseeing this restaurant and this really shows in the menu. It is what I crave in a traditional, French Bistro menu, something often found in France but rarely in London. The service is delightful, colourful and charming, the ambience is uplifting and energetic. Oh and the wine!!! I shall be returning and recommending it to all those I know with a passion for real French cuisine!! Tres bon!

I went to Le Bouchon the Saturday before last with my boyfriend. We were looking for somewhere to go late Saturday afternoon and called Le Bouchon who managed to juggle a couple of things around and squeeze us in at 8:45. We had a drink in the lively, buzzy bar before dinner and were in great spirits by the time we were seated at our table. Very uplifting atmosphere, really enjoyed the food. Around £35 per person. I'd definitely recommend it!!
