Went to Mumtaz yesterday night with my girlfriend, after having heard about it from friends. To cut to the chase, food was exactly average, had the mixed grill and paneer for starters, not great but just about tasty enough. For mains had the lamb kheema which was a disappointment, very bland and too many potatoes and not enough meat. However the reason I would not recommend it to anyone is because of the extremely poor service. The waiter was very cold, slow and the food took forever to come despite there being only 3 sets of customers in the restaurant.

The chicken tika was too spicey - usually this dish is expected to be mild. We ate at lunch time and we were frozen, the heating system was completly inadequate for the size of room. This was a shame because the over all decor was very nice and the staff were very helpful.

I booked Mumtaz for a family birthday and we had a wonderful time. The staff were helpful and attentive and the food was amazing. Having eaten out at many Indian Restaurants over the years, this has the be the best Indian food ive tasted! The handmade samosa and the dahi puri are highly recommended. As a special suprise, we had a free cake and decorations thrown in for free. Great restaurant.

Be careful when booking for a event special such as valentine day dinner. Their adverts state a 5 course meal but the restaurant counts each dish served as course. For example a starter, two meat dishes, rice or nan and a sweet counts as a 5 course meal.

Had a very nice meal served by cheerful & helpful staff

I had onion bhaji, followed by a nice spicy chicken dish with pilau rice

with a jug of iced water - total £17.10 including service
