Eating at Gauthier Soho’s dining room housed in a Regency townhouse is a good way to experience the sort of formal, uber-discerning restaurant of days gone by. Gauthier trained with master chef Alain Ducasse, so he’s well versed in classic French cuisine. However the food here is contemporary with the odd regulation Asian influence (yuzu and miso pop up on the menu).
Alexis Gauthier earned a Michelin star for this Soho establishment shortly after opening, which it subsequently lost in 2012. And his Twitter feed is thoroughly entertaining, it was he who live tweeted from Soho restaurant Duck Soup about being seated inches away from critics Matthew Norman and Tracey Macleod; scathing is the best way to describe his commentary.
