Popped in here for a curry with a couple of mates last night.
Very impressed.
Skipped starter and after some poppadoms (cooked fresh) got stuck straight into the mains. The chef's specials all looked very good but we couldn't have them all so opted for Murgh Tikka Patiawala, Tava Gosht Lahori and a King Prawn Jalfrezi from the standard dishes. Bombay Aloo and Bhindi Bhaji to accompany with rice and Chapati all round.
All the dishes, chefs special or otherwise were beautifully prepared - the Patiawala was particularity good.
The staff were all helpful if a little timid at times apart from the owner who was very friendly - happy to talk about curry, the restaurant business or anything else for that matter! We were the last people out and didn't feel like we were being nudged towards the door.
Including a round of Cobras the bill was a very pleasing £20 a head for three of us and I left feeling satisfied but not stuffed like you often do at some places where they really overdo the ghee.
Negatives? Well they could probably do with having a beer or two on draft. Not that there's anything wrong with bottles but I prefer a proper pint. Other than that, there's very little else to suggest.
Don't be put off by the 'little doorway' look of the place from the outside - the food is a cut above what I would deem a usual curry house. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
