MADD, taken from the term "mango addiction" is the first mango bar in London. MADD gives diners the opportunity to build their own desserts and also serves a selection of cocktails.

MADD was developed as a concept with the aim of creating a site where people could take a rest from shopping, break out from the office, work in an inspiring an location or meet pre- or post-theatre for dessert and cocktails or smoothies in a relaxed and quirky environment

All In London Review

Healthy sweet fixes

The idea behind MADD is great: a place located bang in the middle of the West End where you can pop in for a dessert and/or cocktail, up until midnight at weekends. The quirk is that nearly everything on the menu is made with fresh mangos imported from all over the world, the different varieties are used according to their level of sweetness.

Ironically enough, frozen yoghurt shop Snog is next door, however MADD has the advantage of seating for a hundred people. There is a bright, tropical beach theme that is sure to appeal to passing youngsters, comfy cushioned seating and retro games like Scrabble and Uno are at the customers’ disposal.

The desserts are all very healthy, as the natural sweetness of the mangos eliminates the need for sugar, and low fat yoghurt is used in most cases. The Siam is a sticky rice pudding flavoured with coconut and with chunks of fresh mango on the side. A Valentine’s trio of desserts comprises an intensely rich chocolate tart with a bourbon-soaked biscuit base (one of the few desserts without mango), a crème brûlée with a layer of mango puree at the bottom, and a delightfully creamy passionfruit and mango fool. You can also build your own dessert by starting with a core such as yogurt, pannacotta or a waffle and add your own toppings. A selection of classic cupcakes and scones with mango jam are also available.

The cocktails are mango-based classics (mango mojito, mango daiquiri) and there are shooters too, such as the Spice mango with vodka, mango puree and tabasco, alternatively there are smoothies and hot drinks. Good for a post-show sweet fix. Desserts start from £2.95 to take away, £5.50 to eat in.
