Perhaps one of the capital's best hidden treasures, Tiroler Hut is a traditional family run Austrian restaurant which pays homage to Alpine kitsch and all things related to Heidi - including cowbells. Guests can eat accompanied to the sound of Austrian yodelling and accordion music and the staff are charmingly decked out in Tirolean costume and at the weekends as you can expect, it gets quite riotous.

Chuckle as you chomp

There’s nothing like having a good old yodel after a hearty meal of schnitzel, at least that’s what they believe at Austrian restaurant El Tiroler Hut. They take on alpine dining with camp enthusiasm, with staff dressed in dirndls and lederhosen and oompah music. Diners are encouraged to join in the yodelling, not before consuming liberal quantities of gluhwein naturally.

It was hard to get a table, so we had to book well in advance. Once we got there you could see why, an absolutely hilarious night. Far too much drink, yodelling and cow bells. Highly recommended.

Don't go here for high-end cuisine, however if you're after genuine german-austrian character, then it has bags of it. Traditional surroundings food and live austrian music including a cow-bell ensemble make for the atmosphere!! We all had a brilliant time and were kept fully entertained throughout drinks, a meal, and a few more drinks! Definitely worth it for a really different night out.
