Good, honest, healthy fast food

The name is self-explanatory: this fast food joint stuffs tortilla wraps with freshly made curries, building burritos to your specifications. On our visit we have a choice of masala, korma or dhansak curry, with beef, chicken or paneer as the topping. Rice, chickpeas and cooked onions are included as standard, and there’s a choice of salad items too: lettuce, chilli and coriander, along with grated cheese and crispy fried onion. Lastly there are the chutneys: mango, raita, garlic mayo, chili and tomato.

The food is healthy, as no ghee or colourings are used; you can also opt for mini burritos, a curry bowl which has all the burrito ingredients minus the tortilla, and the same but dunked onto a salad. Or you can do like me and add heaps of cheese, fried onions and garlic mayo, in this case to shredded beef in masala curry. The result is a wrap that’s about to burst, full of flavour and very satisfying. The friend’s veggie wrap has lentil-based dhansak curry, chickpeas, rice, chillies and salad topped with mango chutney, it’s milder but still very good.

There are side dishes like soups, poppadoms and chips; soft drinks are available and they also have a BYOB policy – they’re open till 11pm despite the lunchtime food-to-go feel of the place.

A regular burrito is £4.95 (a large one is a quid more) making this very good value. When so many lunches are limited to the sandwiches at Pret a Manger or Eat, Bombay Burrito have come up with a different concept, plus it’s good, honest, healthy fast food.

Quality curries with fresh ingredients.. in a wrap! Super tasty and super filling if you go for a large one but they also have lighter options.
If you don't want to choose just one curry you can also get a selection in tacos and try them all. My fave is the spinach paneer one... with those amazing crispy onions!
Their chutneys are also super tasty so grab a bag of poppadum chips for dipping!
Service is always good and with a smile. Can't wait for my next one...
Have your say
