Kika is genuinely a good restaurant. I visited on a weekday evening, and had a full three courses with drinks. I recently moved to London, and this was the first meal that surprised and pleased me.
Kika is a little different, nicely decorated and an exciting place to be. The service was friendly and proud. You can imagine the "hippy cool" coming in for a coffee to absorb the atmosphere to build on there own self image. When the food came it was wholesome, tasty and had packed with flavour. Its thai with a twist, a bit bohemian and quirky. I loved the way you could see the nodules of spice that flavoured the curries in your sauce. I had the lamb curry. It was a treat; creamy with sumptuous goodness. The fruitshakes were delicous - you could just taste the minerals and vitamins filling your gullet with goodness. For pudding I ordered an apple tart. Not sure where it fitted into the scheme of the meal, but it was gooey, caramalised and honest. Even though the dish was obviously laiden with sugar and butter, you could still get away with thinking you were quaffing on apples fresh from the orchard so one didnt feel to guilty.
Anyone who claims the food (full menu) isnt tasty is a lost soul. It may not be presented with military precision, but it delivers on flavour and a sense of wellbeing to the diner.
Skikas serve a variety of Philippine dishes at their restaurant as well as some organic choices. They also have karaoke nights and can cater for private parties of up to 25 people upon request.
