Situated on Spital Square next door to La Chapelle, Galvin HOP is a Pub de Luxe where the freshest craft beer rubs shoulders with simple but innovative pub food in a relaxed and vibrant environment and will form the flagship of The Galvin Pub Company. Open from breakfast onwards, a range of dining options are available from a “grab and go” LuxeDog, HOP’s speciality gourmet hotdogs with fresh Maille mustard, to a three-course meal from the seasonally inspired menu. Copper tanks above the bar house fresh unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell, brought weekly from the Czech Republic, and which is complemented by a wide range of bottled craft beers and a cutting-edge wine system serving boutique wines on tap.

A premium pub fit for the City
Replacing the old Galvin Café a Vin, Galvin Hop is a new breed of high-class pubs. On first showing, things are looking good. The space has changed, an informal drinking and eating spot now sits in place of the stuffier previous incumbents. Billed as a ‘Deluxe Pub’, they’ve got the branding spot on. Inside, the Liverpool Street space is all impressive copper beer tanks (from Pilsner Urquell), attractive paneling and leather. Part bistro, part pub, the emphasis on beer and gastro grub swings it toward the everyman. They’ve gone big on their gourmet hotdogs – and why not, we sample them and they sure beat a Herta – and also include the likes of fish pie, Caeser salad, steak, chops and Dorset snails on the menu. This is clearly a cut above the average pub’s food but prices won’t scare you off. A lunchtime or evening here will reward you with some fine food, a tipple of small-brewery craft beer and a sense that you’ve eaten and drunk quality above what you’ve paid for, which is high praise as far as we’re concerned.
