Whilst overall, i cannot complain about the standard of the food, which consist of large portions of homely, hearty dishes, i am sorely disappointed in the quality and level of service of some of the waiters at the restuarant. I have been to this restuarant more than once, and find that it is the one element that prevents me from recommending it to anyone as the concept of being "consumer aware" seems to have escaped the waiters.

I was particularly horrified after my last visit when beig served the equivalent of a paella, and having explicitly asked the waiter to ensure that none of the ingredients contained egg of any sort (as i ahve an egg allergy), i was presented with a bowl of seafood and rice 9large portion, as was expected), whih contained crab sticks. Knowing that crab sticks normally contined egg white, i asked the waiter to check to ensure that it was safe for me to eat, to which he became stroppy, unco-operative (he was hardly "waiter of the year" material prior to the incident), complaining that there was no packaging. After some minutes of insiting, and talking to another waiter, he then produced the packaging for the crabs sticks (thrown down with the distinct look of disgust on his face on the counter in front of me), still insisting that the crab sticks did not contain eggs, despite it clearly stating (in portguese, the waiters native language), that it contained egg white.......ummm i guess egg white is not egg....

Though i applaud the younger waiters effort to make up for our waiters error, i an disappointed that an apology was not offered by the waiter who served me, especially as the effects of me eating the meal had i believed him when he insisted that the meal contained no egg would have been disasterous, not just for myself, but also due to the afct that i was 38 weeks pregnant at time!!!!!

Word to the wise, this place serves good food, but is heavily let down by the standard of service. Allergy sufferers, you have been warned!!

I have an impression that all the Portuguese restaurants are "tasty, reasonable priced and big plate". I liked so much this restaurant. People are nice and I think it's very warm-hearted place, good for family with kids too. Perhaps their service is standard in Portugal (or as Portuguese restaurant), but it IS definitely super as a restaurant in London.
