Following an extensive refurbishment in spring 2011, the restaurant is contemporary in design. The restaurant accommodates 130 people, while the large alfresco terrace overlooking the Thames seats 80 guests. Royal China Canary Wharf is a minute‚s walk from the Thames Clipper's Canary Wharf Pier.

On week days the restaurant is popular with business people, while weekends attract locals and families. The restaurant serves a traditional Hong Kong Chinese menu, perfect for guests wishing to indulge in authentic Chinese cuisine.

I travelled all the way to canary wharf just to sine at this place. As soon as I entered entered the restaurant at 10 pm, the guy at the front desk told me we are closing, when the restaurant closes at 11 pm. I thought it was an act of racism as I am from India and was denied service upon arrival. He took a lot of time to think before asking us to leave.

As far as mainstream Chinese restaurants go, you cannot get any finer than Royal China. They do great dim sum and the food is always of a good standard. The friendly staff provide good service and are efficient. If you wish to eat here on a weekend, it would be best to either come early or book a table. The fact that many Chinese people come here shows that they must to doing something right. The decor is smart and the place is always tidy. Once you have eaten here or any other in the Royal China chain, you wouldn't want to put up with the Chinatown experience.
