At Spitalfields trendy S&M Cafe, they understand the simple joys surrounding hearty portions of Britian\'s most beloved comfort food – sausage and mash. Relaxed and unpretentious with a classic diner feel, S&M Cafe is one of London\'s most celebrated cheap eats. Start by selecting one of nearly a dozen traditional and gourmet sausages, then match it with the mash, gravy and veg of your choice. Combinations are endless, though if a banger doesn\'t tickle your fancy, you can also choose from a menu of time honoured traditional British dishes just like, or quite possibly better, than your Grandma used to make. A blackboard lists daily specials for sausages, mains and puds. Breakfast is!
on order until noon, and takeaway is available too.

Second visit to S and M Bushfield Street. First one about 4 years ago and loved it. But disappointed that standard set then has not been kept up.
Yes - atmosphere was lively and friendly but famous sausage dinner was very sparse - 2 sausages and small mash (gravy good though).
All day breakfast also bit mean (one chopped up piece of bacon!).
Staff helpful and quick but should clean tables occasionally between customers.
Not sure i would recommend it.

Terrible; 2 years ago I went and ordered the vegetarian sausage, which came with a piece of pork cooked right in! I swore I would never eat there again, but extreme hunger drove me there on Sunday. Busy, overcrowded, noisy, smokey, and such poor and incompetent service that 45 mintues passed and after asking 3 times where our meal was we never got an answer. When we said cancel our order and we were leaving they seemed to care (a bit more anyway) and this time admitted that our order never went to the kitchen. I said I would never eat there again and even after 50 minutes, I have held true to my sentiment.

Last weekend a friend and I were wondering round the East End, slightly hung over we were on the look out for a cheap place to eat. S&M caught our eye and we weren’t disappointed! We shared a “Desperate Dan” (12 sausages in a mash of you choice), 2 hours later we left bloated but happy. With such a wide selection of sausages you can never go wrong with a bit of S&M in the morning.

Yet again I have had a disappointing breakfast at S & M in Brushfield Street - I once had breakfast at it's sister cafe in Islington which was slendid and keeps making me go back here in the vain hope that they have improved....Two eggs -underneath, crusty with neglect while raw on top (to the point that I had to scrape off the goo). The signature dish sausage was old, tired and wrinkled rather than the plump juicy promise on the menu. Everything was luke warm apart from the butter which was chilled solid and merely helped to make the toast even colder. And all washed down by half a mug of hot water with tea bag. Please put someone in the kitchen who cares or at least slightly enjoys cookin
