Buona Sera is a chain of restaurants that offer simple yet traditional Italian fare in a vibrant, lively atmosphere. This restaurant is situated in the centre of Chelsea and has raised cubicles reached by ladders - great fun for all the family.

Went to the restaurant for lunch yesterday (4th time of going) and again had a superb experience. The restaurant was half full at 2pm and the atmosphere was jovial. Great selection of food and wine and couldn't fault the starters, mains or puddings which were all of a good size and quality. Great music (70s/80s) music playing with the manager adding his own vocals which was rather hilarious. Love the quirky seating arrangement and the toilets need to be seen to be believed; never thought you could fit so much in such a small space!!!

For those who comment about the 12.5% service charge that has been added to the bill, this is the norm for ALL restaurants in London and at all times OPTIONAL, not COMPULSORY.

Will continue to recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family as overall the layout of the restaurant is unusual, the food and wine is excellent and the service a hell of a lot better than many other restaurants I have been to.

FYI - for the person who claimed the Manager was a foreigner and he not...........he's born and bought up in Barnsley!!!!

American tourist in London for 6-weeks
This was one of the coolest restaurants I have ever been to. I came upon it by chance. The layout of the restaurant was so unique. It made for a great experience. The food was pretty good, not the most authentic, but tasty nonetheless. I would highly recommend the restaurant just for a fun, unique night.

Went last night with 2 friends for my birthday - 1 had been before and had highly recommended the food and quirky layout and to be fair neither disappointed. The food was beautiful and we were lucky enough to have a high table, all was going well untill the bill arrived... £61 for 3 people, wine and all is a fair price and something we were happy to pay although we had asked the waitress to take off the 12% OPTIONAL service charge as we were going to leave our own amount....

After leaving a £6 tip we were then chased out of the restaurant by the manager who claimed he didnt want our charity and told us not to come back...

After much discussion he apologised (although how genuine it was i dont know) but it had left a sour taste on what was a lovly evening!

The service was not worth the amount the wanted, staff were moody and only covered basic service needs, we also heard arguing between them for the majority of the night and the reaction of the manager was just appauling. If a charge is optional then i dont expect to be told not to come back for choosing not to give them the full amount!!!

Warning - catch these guys on a bad night & you will pay. literally!!

This was one of the WORST restaurants I have ever had the displeasure of going to. There were four of us there, 1 Londoner, 1 ex-Londoner and 2 Bristol based. The cost: £90.

One of our group ordered the Sirloin Steak, but rather rudely shoved infront of him was an anaemic piece of over-cooked Veal!

The meal i ordered was Lamb, chicken and italian sausage on a kebab with oven-cooked vegetables on a bed of herbed, sauteéd Potatoes. Well....the first thing was that i recieved french fries instead of potatoes, which would have been fine had they not been raw! So the barely english speaking, rude and arrogant staff replaced my meal with the potatoes, which it should have come with (although i didn't ask for that- I asked for properly cooked chips). However these too were undercooked. They were practically raw, with a cooked skin. After having to wait 20mins my meal was returned cold, and upon trying to explain my complaint, all they could do is shrug and look at me as if i was foreign (Not me kind sir--YOU are the foreign one!). AFTER this... i found my lamb was burnt to a crisp, and the chicken was reconstituted!

The other two meals were ok (Lamb shank and a Lobster/pasta dish), although the lobster dish was certainly not worth the £17 payed. There were only two morcels of lobster in the whole dish.

In the end, they did take off the Compulsory service charge, which i was unhappy about, but we did pay £5 service.

All in all:- DO NOT GO HERE. Expensive, useless staff, and very poor quality food, although the atmosphere was very nice, and they had a very intuitive seating arrangement- Very cool.

My partner and I went to this restaurant last weekend (28/05/06) and really enjoyed the food. I had smoked salmon and avocado with horseradish to start which was tasty and well presented and then I had a beautiful leek and cheese-stuffed chicken in a white wine sauce which was delicious. The staff were friendly, and we really liked the fact that the way the booths are set out it feels as though you are quite separated from other diners, you can dim the lights at your own booth etc to add atmosphere. Great design, am definitely going back with my flat-mates to sit at one of the upstairs booths and try not to fall off the ladder getting down! Really reccommend it
