We are an independant restaurant which has won the Observer Food Monthly award for the "Best Restaurant for Kids" 2006.

We are open from 9-6 daily serving breakfast, lunch and tea, ranging from fresh fruit muesli to crumpets with jam and butter.

We have a full childrens menu and have space for buggies, a play area at the back for the children and a loo that can cope with a small family.

But we also have a grown up area at the front where you can come on your own and read a magazine, or watch the world go by.

Our food is made from the best ingredients, sourced locally where possible (we have a strict no margerine policy) and our cakes are made by local mums.

Would not recommend. Felt a bit grubby and service was unimpressive. Had a sandwich which was ok, but not worth the price. Staff were rude and dismissive when we had a problem, and the guy in charge seemed to have a short temper with the waitresses and kitchen staff, surly and frought faces all round. It puts a bit of a dampner on your lunch when it is served with a massive angry sigh. It's a cafe selling simple food, not a gourmet restaurant, so there is no excuse for how disorganised the place is!

This cafe is ideal if you are a parent who does not believe in discipline, and you're looking for a place where your children can run wild and play and scream unhindered. It is also ideal if you need that extra bit of convincing that a vasectomy is a good idea. The coffee is decent, but the food and cakes on offer are simplistic and insultingly over-priced. The nursery food is complemented by the nursery atmosphere, enhanced by the scent unchanged nappies hanging thick in the air.

This is a great place to come if you're out with the kids, but equally if you're not and are after peace and quiet to read the papers, I really would steer well clear. It's quite small, but has designated space for buggies, a really big loo that a whole herd of children could fit in at once if necessary, and has a little play area for the little ones. There are obviously also plenty of child-friendly eating options.
