The Seafresh is a genuine fish 'n' chip shop and it comes very highly recommended. Situated behind Victoria Station, it's popular with taxi drivers and anyone else who's been lucky enough to stumble upon it. A takeaway and delivery service is available as is catering for private parties of up to 30 guests is available upon request.

Charmingly good value

Part fish and chip shop, part restaurant, Seafresh’s simplicity and good value menu has succeeded in drawing in the customers. Located a stone’s throw from Victoria tube station, it appears to attract many a commuter for a substantial meal before heading home.

The variety of fish on offer is extensive, with classics such as deep fried scampi, fillets of haddock or cod, calamari and fisherman’s pie as well as meat dishes such as roast chicken and lamb cutlets. However in a happy twist, a meal here does not have to be the traditionally stodgy fare. Starters include avocado vinaigrette, served with a subtle, mustard and vinegar infused dressing, Gallia melon, and even appetizers like taramosalata and Greek salad, due to the origin of the owners.

The restaurants specialities are a little more, well special. Our choices of the Seafood Platter and King Scallops were generously sized yet light portions. The platter comprised calamari, king prawns and goujons of salmon, cod, skate, haddock and hake, with the choice of being either grilled or fried. A simple choice like this is hugely welcome as many eateries do not offer healthier options for those of us watching our waistbands. My companions’ King Scallops were even better, cooked till tender in white wine and parsley. Our fresh vegetables had been steamed just enough to still retain some crunch, just as they should.

For desert we ordered the Chocolate Fudge cake which arrived in another mammoth sized serving, and a Lemon Brulee. A variation on crème brullee and filled with lemon sorbet, this was a perfect desert to finish off the meal.

Despite dining here on a Tuesday night, Seafresh was very nearly filled to capacity by 8pm. There appeared to be many people dining here alone, giving the impression of being regulars, unsurprising given the relaxed atmosphere. It is easy to imagine this being the venue of choice for a quiet, easygoing meal after work. With its lack of pretence and good value for money, Seafresh is charming and delightful.

Sea Fresh takes its fish deliveries from the famous Billingsgate Market and further to offering battered fillets, also gives you the likes of whitebait and calamari. It may be in a fairly specific area – the middle of Victoria – but from the noises being made about the quality of its produce, Wicked the musical might not be the only reason to head this way.

I have loved fish and chips all my life. My family ran WESTON'S in Brixton Market for almost 50 years. The Seafresh brings back all the delicious tastes and aromas of my youth. Fresh fish, large portions perfectly fried. First restaurant I want to eat at after lockdown.

This is our local 'chippie' but it's actually much better than a normal fish'n'chip shop! Besides the very good range of fish - the mussels are superb - there are pleasantly lit tables, a decent selection wines; the choice of beer is, however, disappointing - and some traditional British puddings to finish with. The premises are always spotless and they have some of the friendliest staff anywhere (Dziendobry, Justyna! and Obrigado, Sandra!) This place is open six days a week - and they are even open for lunches!
Please stay away in your droves and leave one of Victoria's best kept secrets to us locals!
