I had the good fortune to be posted to the American Embassy in London for a short time, and discovered Topkapi one day while looking for a light lunch. My first experience was a takeaway, shaved lamb sandwich called a doner. I was so impressed, I decided to take my wife for dinner, and became a regular customer for the remainder of my detail. The service is outstanding, the waiters have a way of making you feel as if you are their most important customer, my favorite was a gentleman named Tony. The menu has something for everyone, regardless of your tastes, and the prices are very reasonable. I have often discribed Topkapi as my favorite restaurant in the whole world.

Topkapi for 18 years has been a reliable, comfortable restaurant for me and my wife. We lived in London prior to moving to the U.S. and now whenever we visit London we make directly for Topkapi. Many of my other favorite establishments have fallen victim recently to the economic recession (La Rueda in Wigmore Street, Il Porcellino in Blenheim Street, to name a couple) but Topkapi endures. Last year the long-time proprietor had to take early retirement due to a heart condition but he still maintains a hand in the restaurant. It shows. Nothing has changed significantly through the years - the food is just as good as it ever was, the service is quick and friendly, there is always an open table for a "regular", and the walls and decor are just as dingy and tired-Turkish as they ever were. Many happy memories with wife and friends are reflected in those walls - I hope they stay there forever.
Not sure if you're very hungry? Order the mixed hot and cold Meze (they adjust quantity for number of people), and a bottle of Buzbag Turkish red wine. Seriously! I love wine, drink it everyday, live now in the vineyards of California. This is a beautiful wine. If you want more then go for the grilled lamb kabob with red chilli sauce.

A first class restaurant. I have used the Topkapi regularly since 1975 and have never been disapointed. Good food reasonably priced, and first class service. There is a varied menu, the food is fresh and delicious. If you are in the area, this is a must. Certainly worth a journy as well!

I have eaten at Topkapi - not frequently but off and on for more than 20 years - with friends, colleagues and family - and I have never been disappointed. The service is good and the food always fresh. The Filetoso is excellent and if you are really hungry, have a big appetite and plenty of time their 3 course special (forget what it's called) is superb.

Amazing. What a place. Try the Filetoso. Lamb fillet, lamb shish and chicken fillet. Perfect accompaniment of rice and salad.
Never lets you down. And it's a healthy meal.

Having lived in Marylebone all my life,I have been going here for nigh on 25 years. The staff are quick, friendly and efficient and the food is excellent.Generous portions and a cut above the grotty kebab shops that are found all over the grimmer parts of London with the obligatory elephants leg found spinning in the window.
Try it,you won't be disappointed!
