About 6 months ago I sang this restaurant's praises, while mentioning that the quality was starting to slip. Unfortunately, this process of slipping has continued and I have stopped eating there altogether. I've been a loyal customer of both the Chinatown and Ealing branches for some four years, and it's a sad to see it die like this. I'm currently looking for a new Japanese restaurant.

Okawari is the perfect balance between cost and quality. Having been to Japan, I can attest to it's menu providing a fair emulation of 'authentic' Japanese cuisine. Some dishes have gone a little bit downhill since the first restauraunt was opened in Ealing Broadway, but ultimately you can't complain when their lunchtime sets cost only £4 or £5 for a big bowl of ramen or a plate of curry. And they finally stopped playing crappy European trash-pop, instead opting for crappy J-Pop, so it has regained some of it's older charm.
Basically what used to be a 9/10 restaurant is now a 7 on my scale, and when adjusted for price brings it up to a nice 8. I always eat here when I'm in Chinatown. Thoroughly recommended.

I eat here at least once a week. Good menu with very reasonable set lunch options. Friendly staff.

I also found this restuarant by accident. And it is the best restuarant I have found this is as authentic as traditional local japanese every day evening meals as you can get in England. And this is coming from someone who lived two years in japan.
The food is reasonably price, traditional and not adventurous in new variations like Wagamama's, friendly, clean and a popular place.

I found this restaurant absolutely by accident while wondering the outskirts of the Leicester square. Honestly it's not much to look at from the outside but wait till you get inside. The staff are warm and efficient. The food is some of the best that I have eaten in a long time. Go for the brrf ramen, you won't go wrong. My friend who has just come back from a year in Japan, loved it, he thought that this food was as close to Japan as your going to get in London. I am definately coming back here for many more happy meals. Do your self a favour and pop in there, just be early because anything after 19.30 and it fills up pretty quickly.

I LOVE this restaurant! I've eaten here a good... 50 times since I've lived in London (1.5 years). Wonderful service, so nice! The food is prepared to perfection, big chunks of fish, gorgeous rolls, amazing noodles, wonderful tempura, delicious taste overall - the salmon is to DIE for. My only complaint would be that they don't have enough rolls to choose from, but that's nothing compared to all the other things to choose. I just happened on this place a yearish ago, right next to the Prince Charles Cinema and it is a great night out. I've taken all my friends here. Price is normal for sushi - more expensive than other types of food, not cheap - but not over the top, sushi.
