All In London Review

Ideal office party venue, not for great adventures

From the people behind Loungelover and Le Trois Garcons in Shoreditch comes this restaurant/bar on Little Portland Street. Despite its central location it is non-distinct from the outside, and appears to be light years away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street despite being a mere five minute walk away up Regent Street.

The most noticeable thing upon entering is the décor: a complete mish-mash of styles in the carpeting, wallpaper, lighting and furniture, all deliberately clashing yet without offending, however I must admit when I inspected photographs of the venue before my visit I let out a little gasp of horror. Perhaps the dim lighting helps. No two chairs are the same round any of the tables, and in my light inebriation I began to wonder if this might work as a quirk to my bachelorette pad. Fear not, I’ve since realised it won’t.

The cocktail list was so extensive I had already decided what my 3rd and 4th drinks would be within minutes, however I was disappointed when my cinnamon cocktail A Bit On The Side tasted completely different to my friends’ and had to have it changed. It still wasn’t right the second time, but others fared better, the Maneater, Greta Garbo and Berry Bullet all being suitably tasty.

So with attentive staff, an interesting interior, and cocktails, what more could be asked for? Well, atmosphere perhaps, as this bar is so sterile I felt I was rebelling by stepping outside for a cigarette. A change of music from Britney Spears might help too. In short, this is the sort of venue where you have your office party so as not to offend anyone, but not where great adventures may take place.

Hidden down a small street from the hustle and bustle of oxford and regent street, its a real gem. Its decorated like a jewel box and everything glitters and twinkles. The cocktails are amazing and so is the food. We found the food really tasty for the price. The staff are really friendly. The nice thing is that they never overcrowd the place.
