Went to Retsina on a friends recommendation and was not disappointed. For a local it was very busy but the food was excellent "Grilled seabass was stunning"" the service was a little rushed but still excellent. I'll be coming back and would recommend this place if your looking for a quality greek meal.

It seems that since appearing on the F word, owners have become a bit big-headed. Extremely rude service (which actually had been noticed on the program by the undercover diners). Definitive preferential treatment for country fellows (from conversations with greek friends of ours). Shame as food is quite decent, but not worth having to be treated like a nobody. Go Lemonia.

I am Greek and I had a wonderful meal at Retsina. The ambience is very pleasant and the staff polite and helpful. The menu has a lot of variety with a good range of vegetarian and meat dishes.I highly recommend it.

I am Greek and I know Greek food. This is far from it. It was one of the most horrible restaurant experiences I have ever had. My boyfriend and I went there the other day and all we managed to eat was bread and salad together with some dips. Whatever you do, please, stay away from the "souvla". You have been warned.

We went to the retsina as a 50th birthday present and we had been looking forward to it very much.We had seen it on the f word. it had taken about two and a half hours to get there .We were very disappointed they rushed us in and then out we had eaten and finshed with in an hour the waiters were like headless chickens and the food was so dissapointing we had meze not much of it was greek and we dident get much of anything.we was told that the mother who done the cooking was haveing a few days off may it might have been better if she had been there Sorry to say very dissapointed

My family and I dined out in London last night, (10th April 2010) to celebrate our daughters 21st Birthday. She chose this restaurant after watching the F word. BUT WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT IT WAS. The food was served to our party of 6 at a furious pace and although the food was good, we all felt really rushed. As soon as we had eaten our meal we were presented with the bill and although not asked to leave, it was clear to all that they wanted us out to make way for new customers. All in all a very disappointing experience and one which we will not repeat.

My husband and I have been regular customers of Retsina for over 6 years.
Every time we dined there, the food was absolutely superb. The grilled octopus, aubergine salad, souvla - out of this world! So much so, that I rarely try anything else, though my husband raves about the fish...
We have also introduced our best friends and they were amazed at the quality of the food and the generous portions!Ah, the only complaint was that in Barnett there is no Retsina...
Minos and his mum Zina, are such friendly, welcoming people, that you feeel you are dining at a friend's house rather than in a restaurant.
All in all, it's hardly surprising that they were elected by their customers for the F Word competion.
To all of you foodies out there - please do not be influenced by the Newby person stating that the food at Retsina is just like any other ethnic food Angicised - what he/she said it's utter rubbish. I grew up with Greek food and I can tell you that the food they serve in this restaurant could not be more authentic if it tried!!!
Have a glass of their excelent Metaxa, and let us know how much you enjoyed your meal there

The food is amazing, the atmosphere is very cypriot, and newbie whoever you are, if you are cypriot you really have no clue about cuisine!
I will definitely be going back there and i enjoy the fact they are going on The F Word!

The food served there is hardly reminiscent of the food served in Greece and Cyprus. That is typical among Greek and Cypriot restaurants in London that serve anglicised food to people who can not see the usually low quality food they get. Hardly any freshly cooked dishes or starters for that matter.

Visited this restaurant for the first time in July 08. This is the best greek I have been to in London, even topping the ubiquitous Lemonia. We ordered the meze at £18.50 per person, comprising both hot and cold starters, a fish course and a meat course. Starters included traditional hummus, tzatziki, tarama and grilled halloumi, but the real highlight were the delicious greek sausages. Following this were sardines, enormous prawns and calamari rings served with wedges of lemon, all perfectly cooked, though to our taste the calamari could have been crispier. Finally the meat, comprising lamb and chicken, was falling apart tender, smoky, and faulted only by the fact that we were already too full to do it justice. Partnering this we had the house red which was an acceptable accompaniment. For more adventurous types, the wine list is extensive. This was followed by greek coffee and complimentary brandy, a nice touch. Throughout the meal the service was friendly but unobtrusive, unrushed, and generally made us feel pampered and totally welcome. Bill came to a shade over £100 for four including drinks. There is little that could be done to top the experience we had dining at Retsina and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for fabulous greek food with great service at reasonable prices.
