My Review
1 out of 10 stars
For buffet food, Mr Wu is as you would expect: mass-produced and greasy, but reasonably tasty. However, if my experience had been dominated by the food, I wouldn't be writing this review. You're pretty much dumped on a table and left to work out for yourself what to do; it's not exactly rocket science, but to be interacted with by the staff would be a reasonable expectation. A waiter appeared and asked for drinks (with indifference) and shortly returned with them; this was the extent of the service offered by Mr Wu.
To our great surprise, then, the bill arrived with 10% service charge added. We queried the waiter, who informed us to speak to the payment guy upstairs. Clearly, he thought we would meet our match, for The Man Upstairs is the most unpleasant, rude restaurant owner/member of staff I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. We stated that we would be paying the pre-service charge price, at which he laughed and said that it's not optional.
The conversation quickly went downhill from here, with us asking him how he can possibly charge service charge when we served ourselves food (from a different floor to the one we were seated on). My friend works in a restaurant, so is very conscious of what is required from actual service. Our dialogue quickly began to get a little heated, with me not quite believing that he was refusing to remove the charge. He then informed us that there are signs on the window stating the mandatory payment, which neither I nor my friend had noticed. To this, he almost shouted that I "must be blind". I was taken aback by this, and told him how dare he talk to me like that. After a bit more arguing, he realised that we were not going to pay this ridiculous charge and took our money. He then started arguing again, to which I informed him with great sincerity that I would not be coming back. He then screamed "NEVER", as I started to walk away; this man's rudeness is truly indescribable.
Do not give this awful place
