After the movie we decided to have some food in China Town. As we walked along my friend's saw Mr. Wu All you can eat. My friend asked me to try the place. I was reluctant, for I know having a all you can eat at late hours is not a good choice because the food would not be fresh anymore because they would not put new food on the table because it is closing time.
Anyhow, we sat down and ordered our drinks and started to to surf the food. I was right, it was dry. We are Asian and we know Asian food. Mr Wu put too much MSG on their food. I felt ill after few bite. Really awful experience.

Mr Wu is well sited slightly apart from central Chinatown, a very good place to know about. The buffet style may not suit everyone, but this one is excellent value for money if you like to serve yourself. The range of freshly cooked foods is impressive, with a good variety of salad vegetables as well. There are fresh supplies frequently arriving from the kitchen - it can be worth having a table that gives a view of the service area! Desserts are less exciting, mostly tinned fruit and those odd Chinese jellies but it's the main dishes that make it worth a visit. I've been many times!

If you've left negative comments about Mr Wu...which part of "Self-Service" do you not understand? Eat as much you like for less than £10. Respect those who provide the food and maintain the venue. Take your service complaints to a more expensive restaurant, if you can afford it!!

For buffet food, Mr Wu is as you would expect: mass-produced and greasy, but reasonably tasty. However, if my experience had been dominated by the food, I wouldn't be writing this review. You're pretty much dumped on a table and left to work out for yourself what to do; it's not exactly rocket science, but to be interacted with by the staff would be a reasonable expectation. A waiter appeared and asked for drinks (with indifference) and shortly returned with them; this was the extent of the service offered by Mr Wu.

To our great surprise, then, the bill arrived with 10% service charge added. We queried the waiter, who informed us to speak to the payment guy upstairs. Clearly, he thought we would meet our match, for The Man Upstairs is the most unpleasant, rude restaurant owner/member of staff I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. We stated that we would be paying the pre-service charge price, at which he laughed and said that it's not optional.

The conversation quickly went downhill from here, with us asking him how he can possibly charge service charge when we served ourselves food (from a different floor to the one we were seated on). My friend works in a restaurant, so is very conscious of what is required from actual service. Our dialogue quickly began to get a little heated, with me not quite believing that he was refusing to remove the charge. He then informed us that there are signs on the window stating the mandatory payment, which neither I nor my friend had noticed. To this, he almost shouted that I "must be blind". I was taken aback by this, and told him how dare he talk to me like that. After a bit more arguing, he realised that we were not going to pay this ridiculous charge and took our money. He then started arguing again, to which I informed him with great sincerity that I would not be coming back. He then screamed "NEVER", as I started to walk away; this man's rudeness is truly indescribable.

Do not give this awful place

We decided to eat here at lunchtime before we went to see Oliver, as neither of us had eaten in china Town before and the reports seemed ok. The restaurant looked ok from outside and was one of the first restaurants we came to while walking up Shaftesbury Avenue. When we got inside we were squashed next to another table with very little room to move. Although there seemed a lot of choice the food was greasy and not particularly hot. The beef in black bean sauce which I normaly like had a very strange taste and alot of the food was over cooked and swimming in oil. Although they tell you a 10% service charge is added I am not sure what you pay it for because there is very little service provided. All in all very disappointed and would definately spend more time looking around next time.

If you like overcooked greasy food then you'll love it!

I have been to many restants in the london area and had many different qualitys of food. I can only highly reccomend Mr Wu for a nice meal that will not cost the earth. For another good point the drinks are also ressonabal priced. Go here and have a good time and you will be rewared with a full belly and full pocket to match.

my wife and I had planned to see les miserables, having arrived at the theatre with about an hour and a half before the start and feeling a bit hungry we saw across the road mr wu restaurant we have never heard of this restaurant chain up until then. After trying several different dishes (the choice was impresive) we were very impressed with the quality of food and the overall state of the restaurant including the toilet, on the down side I wasn't impressed with having to pay a service charge especially as we served ourselves.Apart from that I would recommend this restaurant for value
