Caramel

I went to Caramel this past weekend, having been there before multiple times. With friends coming from out of town, I wanted us to have a good brunch in a relaxing yet esthetically pleasing atmosphere.
Upon arrival, the waiter wanted to sit the 3 of us on a table that would barely fit 2 people. I asked for us t be seated on the bigger table that was empty and right next to the one he proposed, only to get an almost violent response and refusal with the explanation: "We're busy" (at least 25% of the seats were empty).
What the restaurant lacks in service, it more than makes up in food ... or at least that's what I remembered. Not this time though. The Eggs Benedict with spinach had canned spinach that was black in color. My friend wanted some cherry tomatoes with her scrambled eggs ... but that was difficult. No cherry tomatoes. The waiter offered to bring some grilled one and asked whether 2 were enough. We started to wait, only to find out that he meant two halfs as opposed to two tomatoes, which afterward turned out to cost GBP 1.00 each! The full English breakfast which my other friend had was ... let's put it mildly suboptimal, leaving something to be desired, especially in the area of sausages and hash browns. The pancakes though were great.
All in all, we felt our business was not welcomed and the food we were served supported the theory. It used to be a place I would recommend, but after last weekend, I would recommend NOT to go there.
