Urfa Sofrasi

I have tried most of the restaurants down the main road in stokey and i have to say, i was pleasantly surprised when i walked into the restaurant to the moment i left. as you enter you are greeted with a friendly smile and in my book that goes a long way. the decor of the restaurant is simple but more importantly it is clean. i had the lamb ribs (kaburga) and my friend had 3 lahmacun(turkish pizza) we both washed these down with a couple of beers, turkish beers of course . my ribs were exellent, the waiter recommended the ribs to me as one of their best selling dishes and i have to agree, its the best ribs i have had around stoke newington. i love the way turkish people eat their red meat and the accompanying dishes that comes with it. the salad was fresh and as we sat opposite the grill we saw the chef cook our meal. They also gave us a dish which was grilled onions, seasoned and sauced. I have never had this before and it was delicous. i asked the waiter and he said that all meals in the restaurant came with this along with the fresh bread that they perepare and cook by their baker.My friend couldnt finish his pizza so he had one wrapped up and taken away. According to him cold turkish pizza is amazing, i think i might pass on that though. Our meal came below £25 and the extras that they gave on the side were an added bonus. i would definatley recommend couples or groups as the food was very good quality and they had a good sized bar. the restaurant is definatley big enough to hold a for a gathering such as a birthday party. all in all it was a nice meal, with plesant staff and at very good value. Something which is important during the credit crunch.
