This place is a regular local eaterie for me, especially when I have a day off work, or need a lazy-weekend treat. Great breakfast, and tasty, wholesome all-day brasserie-type menu: grills, steaks, fish, pasta, salads. Was there just today, and there is a new menu. Much more focused, but still very, very good value; Three course evening menu is only £7.95.
Today had home-made beefburger and fries with their great tasting red onion tomato and mint salad, with a great rice pudding with pomegranate seeds, for dessert.
The service is always good, and as a previous reviewer has said, the owner is passionate about pleasing his customers.
A great local secret ... unpretentious (in the best sense of the word), good quality, eating.
By the way ... whoever owns this page ... please change the really bad picture that you took of the outside of this restaurant (as at 30 October 2009). You do not do the place any favours!

The guy who runs this place has a real commitment to his food - which makes a change. Some of the other cafes in this area are prone to getting orders and instructions wrong, or being half interested in the job so that you have to repeat the order a couple of times etc. That never happens in this place because the owner does all the work himself and doesn't leave it to bored teenagers. This place is the first choice for the usual cafe stuff, the breakfast is head and shoulders above the nearby competition.
