Carluccio's

We visited Carlucio's at Brunswick Square, and had possibly one of the best pasta dishes I have had in my life. No problems with the staff, prices were sensible, and all in all a very good experience, My wife also had pasta and was similarly impressed. Don't rely on reviews, try it yourself, we all have different standards.

Where to start? The food was abysmal. I ordered their Italian stew, which was described on the menu as being accompanied by garden vegetables. It arrived cold and I sent it back to be heated up. The dish consisted of chunks of meat in a tasteless gravy with a few peas. My friends ordered tortellini with venison. This was also tasteless and the portions were meagre. At the end of the meal, the waiter took our plates and did not ask whether we enjoyed our meal. We complained and asked to see the manageress who informed us that the dishes arrive pre-cooked; they are heated up and the sauce is then added to them. We did receive a discount on our bill, but all in all this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. Avoid at all costs.

The food was great but the service was really sub standard. The waiting staff seemed really to resent the custom. 1hr wait for food at 9pm, plates were left for a long while after we finished whilst the staff chatted amongst themselves. Wouldn't recommend this place.
